Recovery Master Key

Addiction Therapy in Winnipeg: Empowering Recovery

I started my career as an addictions counsellor in 2020. My first year involved conducting intake assessments for substance use disorders using structured and standardized screening tools. Acting as a human link between participants and the service field, I also filled the role of case manager at SRWC (Saint Raphael Wellness Centre). I was honored to do presentations all over Winnipeg, educating the community on the importance of continued care for addictions. I began counselling men struggling with out-of-control sexual behavior, guiding them to achieve self-love and intimate relationships. Years later, this continues to be the focal point of my individual sessions, serving as a reminder that the ability to be vulnerable with others is imperative to recovering from any addiction.

In 2021, I created the Men’s Continuing Recovery Program, a therapy group for men who are at least a full month sober. I recruited men who recently completed rehab by presenting at the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba. The modules I wrote specifically for men, recognized that men experience addiction, relapse and recovery a bit differently.

In 2022, I began the Exploring Options recovery program. This psychoeducational group was designed for men and women who are building their first month of sobriety from drugs and alcohol.

In 2025, I started my own private counselling practice. I currently facilitate Active Recovery Winnipeg, a virtual recovery program offering a complimentary alternative to the twelve-steps. The program incorporates motivational enhancement therapy into modules that are strength based and empowering. Watching participants achieve sobriety within the community has always been one of the most rewarding parts of my job!
